Income Tax Return Filing

The right form, reconciled with what the department already knows about you

The Income Tax Department already holds a record of most of your income — salary, interest, dividends, property transactions and securities trades — in your Annual Information Statement. A return that does not match it is the most common reason for a notice. We reconcile your income against AIS and Form 26AS before filing, choose the correct return form, and file and e-verify on your behalf.

Who this suits

  • Salaried individuals, including those with capital gains or foreign income
  • Doctors, consultants and other professionals
  • Proprietors and small business owners
  • Partnership firms and LLPs
  • Private limited companies
  • NRIs with income in India

The process, step by step

  1. Collect documents

Form 16, bank interest certificates, capital gains statements and investment proofs — or your financial statements for a business. We send a checklist specific to your income.

    Day 1
  2. Reconcile with AIS and Form 26AS

Every income item and tax credit reported to the department is matched with your records. Differences are resolved before filing, not after a notice.

    1–2 days
  3. Compare tax regimes

For individuals, we compute tax under both the old and new regimes and show you the difference before you choose.

    Same day
  4. Prepare the computation

Income, deductions, set-off of losses and tax payable or refundable are set out in a computation you approve before anything is filed.

    1–2 days
  5. File the return

The return is filed in the correct ITR form. Any balance tax is paid first, with interest worked out where it applies.

    On approval
  6. E-verify and track

The return is e-verified, which must be done within 30 days of filing. We track processing and any refund, and respond to intimations for you.

    Within 30 days

Which law applies

Returns for the financial year 2025-26 are filed under the Income-tax Act, 1961. The Income-tax Act, 2025 applies from tax year 2026-27 onwards, and replaces the "assessment year" with a single "tax year". Due dates are set by statute and are sometimes extended — we confirm the current year's dates with you rather than relying on last year's.

Questions we get asked

Which ITR form do I need?

It depends on your sources of income. Salary and one house property usually means ITR-1; capital gains or more than one property moves you to ITR-2; business or professional income needs ITR-3 or ITR-4. Firms, LLPs and companies have their own forms. We confirm the form after seeing your documents.

I missed the due date. Can I still file?

Usually, yes. A belated return can generally be filed later in the year, with a late fee and interest on any unpaid tax. Some benefits, such as carrying forward certain losses, can be lost, so it is better to file as soon as possible.

Old regime or new regime?

The new regime has lower rates but few deductions; the old regime suits people with significant deductions such as home loan interest, insurance and provident fund contributions. We calculate both and show you the figures.

I have received a notice. Can you help?

Yes. Send us the notice and your return. Most notices ask for an explanation of a mismatch between the return and AIS, and can be answered online.

Do you need my income tax portal password?

We can work with access you grant us, or prepare everything for you to file yourself. Either way, nothing is filed until you approve the computation.
